EnterprisesBy the year 2010 I had accomplished everything that I had wanted to do with my academic career and was looking for new challenges. Then one day a colleague from the Department of English and I were flipping through some avant garde poetry journals that had been sent to me by the editors of Vulcan Magazine (now defunct) and we began to muse about the possibilities of doing our own equally provocative journal of experimental writing and graphic design.
Of course to do this I had to (1) learn desktop publishing and the intricacies of the Publishing-on-Demand industry, (2) set up an LLC to house this and other publications that we created, and (3) learn the basics of business management. By 2012, not only did we have the first two volumes of a peer-reviewed journal called and/or published, but the success of this venture started me on the road to developing two independent presses--SophiaOmni Press, focused on works of philosophy, ethics, and religion, and Ars Omnia Press, devoted to experimental fiction, poetry and art. |
